Packing list

The easiest way is to stow your backpack as full as possible, but then you will be carrying a (too) heavy backpack. The trick is to pack as lightly as possible, but still have all the essentials with you. You can use the contents of your backpack as a guideline. For a 3-night hut tour I use a backpack of 30-40 liters. It could be a little less, but I like to have a warm (down) jacket with me for bad weather and cold evenings. If you're going out for longer, I'll bring a backpack of about 50 liters. While you'll need essentially the same things for a longer trip as you would for a shorter trip, you may want to bring some extra clean clothes.

On the man / woman

I like to walk in long pants and wear a shirt with long sleeves. Partly because I find it more aesthetically pleasing ;-), but mainly because you are better protected against a fall or against a blow with your arm or leg against a rock. I also have a short-sleeved shirt in my backpack, because that is sometimes nice when you rest in the sun.

  • Long pants

  • Long sleeve shirt

  • Socks (merino wool does not smell/hardly smells)

  • Mountain boots (B or BC depending on the tour)

  • Backpack*

  • Hiking poles*

Money and emergency

The overnight stays with half board are paid, so you don't have to take that into account. What you should keep in mind is that you can (almost) always only pay with cash in the cabins. It is also good to take into account hunger and minor discomforts (blisters, headache, diarrhoea). Bring your own first aid kit for this. The attendant always has an extensive first aid kit with him.

Corona measures

Of course we hope that the world will open completely again soon. But even if we are all vaccinated, additional measures may remain in force for the time being. We will keep you informed. For 2021 you should in any case take into account that you must have the following items with you.

  • FFP2 Mouth caps

  • Disinfection gel

  • A sleeping bag instead of a sheet

  • Pillowcase and possibly fitted sheet

  • Vaccination certificate (if you have one)
